Psychotherapy and Counselling
The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) define Counselling and Psychotherapy as: “Counselling and Psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of “Talking Therapies”. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.” There are a range of different Counselling and Psychotherapy “models” all of which can be effective dependent upon the individual needs of the client and the quality of the therapeutic relationship.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) define CBT as follows: “…What people think can affect how they feel and how they behave… During times of mental distress, people think differently about themselves and what happens to them… CBT practitioners help each person identify and change their extreme thinking and unhelpful behaviour…”

Coaching does not look backwards. It is focused in the “now” and on where the client wishes to be in the future. My varied employment experience (in different managerial roles) also enables me to work successfully with company executives (Executive Coaching) and to act as a sounding board for their problems and operate as a safe place to offload stress. Furthermore, the experience I have gained through my training in “Talking Therapies” provides me with an invaluable asset to my coaching work.
